CORPS À CORPS – A Tribute to George Aperghis

On the occasion of George Aperghis’ 80th birthday, the Greek Composers’ Union is delighted to present a special tribute to his remarkable body of work, accompanied by a workshop dedicated to music theatre. The celebration will culminate in a final concert, during which the Greek Composers’ Union will confer upon Georges Aperghis the title of Honorary President.

Corps à corps workshop is an international call addressed to composers focusing on the creation, development, and presentation of new small-scale music-theatre works, in dialogue with the artistic thought and practice of Georges Aperghis. The works of the selected composers will be developed and presented within the framework of an intensive mentoring process, rehearsals, and a final concert on May 28.

The final day of the tribute will feature a round-table discussion with Georges Aperghis, the mentors, and the participating musicians, culminating in the formal conferment of the title of Honorary President of the Greek Composers Union upon Georges Aperghis. Marking this highly symbolic moment for the Union, the closing concert will be dedicated to a selection of iconic music-theatre works by Georges Aperghis, celebrating his enduring influence on contemporary music and music theatre.
